Not a cinematic masterpiece, but to see Dolph Lundgren in a role as a hero sure was fantastic! And appearance-wise, I don’t think anyone else at the time could match the physique of what us kids all imagined He-man would look like if he were real. Despite its weak story, the movie had redeeming factors. One: the costumes were impeccable, futuristic and totally 80s. I couldn’t stop thinking back to Flash Gordon because everything looked wildly similar. Two: the cheesy special effects were hilarious. Three: Dolph Lundgren sounded like a romantic hero. Seriously, I could only ever recall him saying “I must break you”, so to hear him in hero-mode made me swoon just a bit.
