I am not embarrassed to say that it took me a long time to watch this movie because you know…zombies. On the bright side, I could take my time since it was on my Instant Queue on Netflix. Much to my astonishment, it wasn’t nearly as terrifying as I thought it would be, but then Read more…

madagascar 3

Thursday, August 22nd, 2013

Like the previous Madagascar movies, this one is fun and entertaining and as always, I was in love with the penguins. I think this may be the end of the story for the beloved Central Park Zoo animals, and a fitting end at that one. Good for the kids, enjoyable for the grown-ups.

I really shouldn’t have watched this in public, let alone on an airplane headed to Turkey. I struggled to hold back tears, but I couldn’t. Although I did manage not to totally break down crying. Hardest flight ever and flights are never easy. This movie is heavily emotional, I think for anyone who has had Read more…

The admissions process to get into university is nothing like what is depicted in this movie. A huge exaggeration which pretty much sets the tone for the movie. If you saw the trailer, you might have assumed this movie would  be a romantic comedy about an admissions officer who tries to dismiss the advances of Read more…

Imagine all the horrible things that could possibly happen to you in your lifetime. This movie encompasses all those things and by golly is it sad! I don’t recall the conversation I was having with Panda that brought this movie up, but man, I bet it was one about the end of the world. The Read more…

If you’re thinking about putting this movie on in the background to play a board game, don’t do it. This movie had my attention through its entirety. And rightly so because it’s a good one. Gorilla had mentioned this movie before, as one of his teaching inspiration and I can see why. The teacher whose Read more…

It’s David Bowie Week at the Lincoln Center, so what better way to start than with a Jim Henson masterpiece? Kudos goes to Sunflower for inviting me to see this fabulous film that was foreign to me during my childhood. She didn’t set the expectations high for me, but warned that there would be an Read more…

It certainly took me long enough to see this movie, and now all those classic childhood lines finally make sense. Oh how I was so behind the times. If I was speaking on behalf of my 90s self, I would say that this movie was totally awesome. It’s entertaining and exactly what I imagined high Read more…

searching for sugar man

Saturday, July 27th, 2013

Oh damn is this a good documentary. Usually when I hear the word “documentary,” I reply with a tilt of the head and a dismal sigh, but after hearing an overview of this from Panda, I was eager to watch. If I remember right, he said something like “Guy living in an inherited house in Read more…

John Travolta, post-Grease has, in my recollection, always played the villain. And he’s good at it. There’s something creepily menacing about him. Perhaps it’s his voice or piercing eyes that makes it hard for underlings not to submit. This movie is a twister with an all-star cast and Halle Barry’s boobs… Personally, I’d watch this movie again Read more…
