Below are restaurants that I consider "HIT", so if you come across them, check them out!

bohemian hall beer garden

Thursday, September 5th, 2013

I’m an amateur beer drinker. Meaning, I’ve really just started drinking beer after a quarter of a century of living and owning a bartender’s license for over the year… Beer is very foreign, but I’m aiming to change all that on my pursuit to find the beer that suits my tastes. Lucky for me, I Read more…

cape cod potato chips: sea salt and cracked pepper

Wednesday, September 4th, 2013

These chips, I swear, are so addicting I had to write a review about it. Each bite is crisp to the max and distributed with enough flavor, it makes me ache for more. And what’s great is that Panda likes them too. I have yet to try all the flavors available, but out of the Read more…

lady m cake boutique, bryant park

Friday, August 30th, 2013

In the middle of what was becoming a slow and hectic week, Raccoon and I headed to Bryant Park for tea time. The weather was warmer than it had been in the past week, but it was perfect for a midday excursion. We located the boutique south of the park and, like it’s Upper East Read more…

sweet buttons

Thursday, August 29th, 2013

On our way to Sugar Sweet Sunshine, Panda and I came across this little place and just had to try it. The place looks relatively new with its marble interior and classy purple leather chairs which is fitting since the cupcakes and pastries look very elegant. The display is pleasant to the eyes and the Read more…

lao di fang

Wednesday, August 28th, 2013

Strolling through the streets in Chinatown, we noticed this hand pulled noodle place burrowed close to the open fruit market where one vendor was selling 19 kiwis for $2. We ventured inside and the host was very swift and courteous and so were the customers who graciously offered their table to us by finishing up Read more…

popover cafe

Friday, August 23rd, 2013

I’ve watched the first few seasons of How I Met Your Mother an embarrassing amount of times, but every time I hear them mention “Popover Pantry”, my brain lights up because 1. I don’t know what a popover is and 2. They sound delicious. I fired up my computer and started Yelping around with the Read more…

pacific standard

Wednesday, August 21st, 2013

Panda and I had an old married couples date with Shih Tzu and St. Bernard in Brooklyn. Quite a journey for us to travel, but well worth it. The bar pays homage to the West Coast. The walls are adorn with flags, license plates, knick knacks, and all the pleasantries the West has to offer. Read more…

hou yi (formerly m tasty)

Tuesday, August 20th, 2013

My goto hotpot spot! For 22 or so dollars, you can dine all-you-can-eat for roughly an hour dipping all you want in a big pot of broth. It’s not spectacular food, but when you’re craving hotpot, this is the cheapest and easiest in downtown Chinatown. And it’s close to my fave, Prosperity Dumpling.

ninth avenue vintner

Thursday, August 15th, 2013

These guys make “really good sandwiches”. And if you’re looking for a wide selection of beers and wines, this is certainly the place to go. I’ve come here on numerous occasions now, and of course never when I was living just two blocks away… I can attest to the sandwiches being good even though I’ve Read more…

la maison du chocolat, ice cream

Sunday, August 4th, 2013

Thanks to Raccoon, I heard about La Maison’s free samples giveaway and I had to try it since it was only for a limited time. One hot afternoon, I dragged Panda along with me. The shop was near Rockefeller and it was desolate. The staff outnumbered the number of customers and the free samples giveaway Read more…
